Opt Art 4: Cartoon Mosaics

We met to discuss Chapter 4 of Opt Art which is about Cartoon Mosaics. The topic was about making a larger mosaic (e.g. a picture of Frankenstein) from lots of smaller pictures. We used the linear assignment problem to find the optimal way of doing that so that the larger picture would most closely match the expected pixel colours. We didn't have much time left at the end of the meeting to code something ourselves so we decided to dedicate the entire next meeting to this endeavour.
