Meeting Minutes

  • Handling Feature Changes and Upgrade Paths
    • Rosie: there needs to be someone to make a good bulleted list on the changes that need to be made to replicate on your own site. Some will be simple, some will be more complicated. Rosie is proposing that we create an additional page of documentation that lives in Github Documentation (since there’s a way to have a PR), which will need to be linked from the bulleted list. It should include details about everything that was changed.
    • Seth: We do have in the documentation site a section that is Installation Release Notes, but it is outdated.
    • Rosie: may be best to prioritize the Github release notes since site managers should be pretty comfortable with Github. Should rebrand the Release Notes section of the documentation. Because it’s not feasible to go back through every expanded release note, we write all the notes in past tense so it reads more easily as β€œthings we did” to have everything up-to-date.
    • Noah: makes sense. We’re also assuming each module has its own semantic version numbering that is not tied to another. Each will have their own independent versioning.
    • Rosie: Wants Starter Site to only ever provide the latest release of Islandora/Islandora module when you start a new project.
    • Noah: we should probably deprecate stuff we’re not currently, or don’t intend to, provide good maintenance for in the future (like install profiles).
    • Rosie: unable to maintain a theme right now and goes against the current strong architecture of Islandora.
    • Kirsta: Oliviero is nice and familiar and easy to understand. Should see how far we can get with things like layout builder with Oliviero.
    • Noah: sub-theming a popular theme is the way to go. The scope of the foundation should be user experience design not graphic design.

  • Matomo server installation support updates
    • Taking over islandora_matomo module: https://github.com/asulibraries/islandora_matomo
      • Luke: Willow has said we can bring it under our proper and would commit to maintaining the module.
      • Seth: would need clearance from their library folks–which he will do.
      • Rosie: could be interesting to do a 5-minute demo on how it works/how to set up. Potentially get some devs involved. Could also make it a part of the Starter Site, which would mean a cooperative relationship between the Islandora community and ASU. It would be an Islandora Contrib module.
      • Seth: can just pull and use it. Hasn’t been touched since Eli left. Makes sense for Willow to be a Maintainer on it, as well as him.
      • Seth: has been approved to have the module go to Islandora, just need to go through the formal work to get it transferred.

  • Starter Site and Islandora Camp
    • When should we stop production to ensure we’re ready for the Camp and ready to teach things. March 10 as this date and hopes that the documentation will also be done in tandem so Kirsta and Rebecca can run through it in different environments and encourage people to do the installation beforehand.
