Message Geographical Scope

The Message Geographical Scope (MGS) determines the coverage area of a TMC service. It is implemented as a set of flags, of which one or more can be set:

• International (I): little relevance in practice, as each service uses a country-specific location table, and while referencing locations from other Location Tables is possible, it comes with some overhead (messages require at least two groups).
• National (N): entire road network of a country
• Regional (R): region within a country
• Urban (U)
