Sustainable
When the last tree has been cut down, the last fish caught, the last river poisoned, only then will we realize that one cannot eat money.
It seems as if we have lost our connection to nature. Even though we know it already, we are on our way to ruin this wonderful planet and the foundation of all our future generations. To really understand why this is happening and what is driving us this insane road you need to deeply understand how our current money is created and how it is setting the wrong incentives for infinite growth.
Instead we need to learn to preserve and share our earth and the gifts we receive from it.
The design of ThankToken follows the principles of nature. It creates value that has a natural decay. This will stop us from beeing so extra-enourmous greedy. Further, due to the universal income we will be able to share the values of our mother earth better and move our focus from lack and fear to abundance and trust. This also includes community income that is spent in a very democratic way. Therefore the people can spend their part of these handsome budgets also to grow rain forrest and support regional ecologic projects to save our planet.
Typical crypto-currencies are based on blockchain. A blockchain continuously grows over time with each transaction. Due to its nature this blockchain with its giga- or terra-bytes has to be downloaded and verified by every node and there have to be many of these nodes. You need the entire blockchain in order to validate transactions and to determine your account balance without relying on external services.
Further, a central blockchain does not properly scale for the entire world. A system is scaleable if it gets faster or it can handle more workload in case you are adding additional nodes (computing power). However, with blockchain every node by design has to do the same calculations. So if you add more nodes it does not get faster but only more energy is wasted (but if the nodes are from different stakeholders more independency is gained). Concepts like proof of work require enormous permanent computing power for all nodes. In summary this is a huge waste of resources such as energy, storage, hardware, etc. (see proof of work or proof of waste?).
ThankTokens are very different as they carry the cryptographic chain separate for each token. Therefore transactions from independet tokens do not need to be connected. There is not a single connected blockchain. You only need the data for the ThankTokens you own and that are relevant for your payments. In reality if you own more physical coins you need a bigger wallet but you do not have to care and carry all the coins of the entire world. The same analogy applies to ThankTokens.
Further, it is possible to renew aged tokens (having larger size due to many transactions) with fresh new tokens worth the same current value but with only little digital size. This allows to slowly let old data fade away while a classic blockchain requires every transaction to be kept forever.
Finally, the public ledger of ThankToken is partitioned by algorithm, currency, age, and location. Therefore, you can contribute a node e.g. only for your region that you want to support. This massively reduces the size of the data you need to process and makes the system more scaleable.
