Explanation:
Making our open-source effort profitable is one of our goals for 2024, but the intention is to keep it fair while doing so. We have been subsidizing our work with our service offering and justifying it as a way to give back.
The way we see it, open source has made our careers possible.
All of the above works until you create a successful library that’s used by more than just a couple dozen of users; when you enter the thousands is when maintaining an open-source library becomes a full-time job.
Lastly, our initial idea is not to make money, but at least cover the costs. If sponsoring/donations end up making more than that, it’s easier for our team to assign more time and build all the features and craziest dreams for our open-source stack.
Thanks for reading so far. Whether you donate or not, we want to thank you. Seeing what others create with our tools feels special, not the normal special, and to be honest, that’s (almost) enough to fuel our team.
Alternatively you can also buy our merch to help us.
By sponsoring Darkroom you will help our team prioritize:
- vue-lenis
- typescript support
- lenis documentation
- hamo documentation
- satus documentation
- and more... sponsor to know!
