2017 11_Report
The Urukul prototypes are back from fabrication and have been smoke-tested. Apart from minor tweaks there have been no errors. The CPLD logic router has been partially tested and works well. The initial ARTIQ drivers have been added.
ARTIQ can be installed on a variety of different systems and to the taste of the user. The installation steps are documented and software as well target binaries are packaged in repositories. This has allowed newcomers to install ARTIQ on new systems without much experimentation and with reproducible results.
We are now working on tools that would make the deployment of standardized ARTIQ installations even simpler and fully automated. Including the entire machine setup into the automation adds to the overall reproducibility of experiments and streamlines the setup, transfer, and recovery of experimental setups. We are using Ansible as a toolkit. The work is not yet public and will initially only support Debian GNU/Linux. The work is part of the opticlock project.
While waiting for the completion of the Kasli prototypes, we have developed the Kasli platform definition for Migen which includes the pin-to-signal mapping of all 12 EEMs. We have started the ARTIQ gateware integration and are working on the 1000Base-X PCS/PMA/PHY for Ethernet over SFP which is the major remaining component.
