Adds a way to install to a TV without having tizen installed if the person has docker. I've left notes that this is unofficial and unsupported by the Jellyfin Team. These notes seem relevant for helping non-developers install until jellyfin#94 is resolved.
Thanks for putting a docker image together. The only additional thing I found missing from these instructions is that the TV and host computer had to be on same wired LAN segment. It didnt work for me over wifi despite the script finding the Samsung TV. The debugger connection failed until I was on a wired LAN. I also constantly saw on my 2016 Samsung TV (v1310 firmware) that the host IP address disappear everytime I went into developer modal popup. It seemed that download would still work after entering it once. |
No worries, maybe we could chat more over on the this repo? I've definitely managed to have it work over Wifi, but networks are weird and variable, so perhaps we can work through your specific case and add an additional check / warning to the script? Would you open an issue with that comment over there? |
Thanks... Georift/install-jellyfin-tizen#3 |
@Georift This is a revelation. I just used it on 2 TV's, took all up 5 mins. I have gone through the previous install (made my own docker to make it faster), but still took usually 20-30mins. And each time I was like how did I do that again. This should be in the core repository. |
Thanks a lot man, it was becoming a chore to manually update the jellyfin tizen app. Big thumbs up. Unfortunately, not everyone is comfortable using docker. That's the only thing about it. But then again, people on github are probably tech savy enough for figuring it out. |

1. [Ensure your Samsung TV is in developer mode](https://developer.samsung.com/smarttv/develop/getting-started/using-sdk/tv-device.html#Connecting-the-TV-and-SDK)
- If you're having trouble, make sure you're using the "123" button on the remote when typing in "12345".
- Set the IP of your compter on the TV under _Host PC IP_ |

Typo 'compter'. Btw, thanks for clarifying this. I missed this the first time around and had some troubles getting out of developer mode to set it again :D
