G1 - Ensure a clear layout.

Description: The designer should

  • model from the left to the right in order to ensure orientation within the process model.
  • avoid overlapping elements.
  • place related elements close to each other to improve understandability.
  • place elements as symmetric as possible.

G2 - Use a consistent labeling style.

Description: The designer should label elements as short and as precise as possible. Labels should be placed close (e.g., Data Objects) or inside (e.g., activities) notation elements. The designer should ensure a consistent labeling style among all artifacts. Please find further guidelines on labeling for elements within fragments and OLCs on the respective pages.
