The Dunes biome is entirely and completely a desert full of rolling hills of sand, and more sand, and even more sand. This is the perfect place to bring your shovel and harvest for your 100% glass sculpture of a pony or to banish one of Dormammu's buddies.
The Dunes are a one-part biome, generating in the dry climate zone:

The Dunes biome is dry. very dry, the mostest dry. May I repeat; there is no water here.
The Dunes biome was one of the hardest biomes to get right. Most of the time a biome mod creator can just slap some trees on the baby and she'll look great. In case you haven't noticed, this place is dry, and has no trees. Seriously don't go there unless you brought a shovel or some water.
