UXL Foundation Steering Committee Meeting 3 October 2024

Notes:

Rod provided updates on the following:

  • Micron has joined as a General member.
  • A UXL Foundation General members meeting will be held on 4th December, postponed due to DevSummit activities.
  • A General Report will be published to coincide with the General members meeting
  • SC24 is coming up and we are planning activities for members and non-members, details TBD - Priyanka and team will be attending - Alison is working on disributing marketing materials for member stands
  • There was a new release of the oneAPI Construction Kit and associated blog post by the maintainers.
  • The DevSummit is happening 9/10 October and a request was made to continue promoting this.

Objective Setting and Budget for 2025

The overall objectives for 2025 were presented.

  • Grow the Membership and activities - Increasing members at all levels - Introducing academic alliances
  • Grow Open Source and Specification Contributions - Project contributions from new organisations - Increased participation on RFCs - Increased contributions through PRs to projects - Sufficient build and CI infrastructure
  • Grow awareness and usage of the UXL Foundation projects - Presence at events, online activities and project announcements
  • Maintain a healthy foundation - Growing participation in meetings, work packages and unique organisation contributions

Targets were presented for these in 2025. The group was in agreement with these.

The draft budget was presented, with new investments in key areas:

  • Improving web properties and content to ensure that stakeholders understand how to find the information they need and project messaging is clear
  • Increased UXL Foundation organisation participation at events
  • Increasing build infrastructure available to projects
  • Improved documentation for the overall foundation and projects

The group agreed with the approach, a more formalised budget will be shared so that the final budget can be approved by the end of November.
