I'm working on a simple color picker, need a bit of guidance.

I'm working on adding a color picker utility that will drop in colorx RGB code at the cursor location.

Couple of questions:

1. I just want to confirm this feature makes sense, or if colorx is the right package?
2. I am having a hard time finding the pointer to the text input / cursor location. Where is this pointer defined or how do I easily get access to the current cursor location in the latex code?
