omitting --dry-run also does not remove any files, despite INFO output pretending to do so.

This likely means you dont have the s3 delete permission for your user.

unfortunately i can't comment on that, since i'm not using S3 anymore.
but given, that i saw INFO output, i assume i should have also seen ERROR output and would expect to see a failed delete there.
