File missing after HDD disconnect and still missing after reconnect #15470

  • Operating system(s) where the issue occurs Windows 10

What is the problem

Missing files error after HDD disconnect

Detailed steps to reproduce the problem

  1. have some file downloaded
  2. disconnect the hard drive
  3. the files will be marked as missing
  4. reconnect the drive and restart PC so it loads in windows
  5. the files are still marked as missing even though they exist, and even can be opened through the qbittorrent menu
  6. even forcing file check doesnt find it

What is the expected behavior

The file is found and continued sharing with others

What you can try to do is to re-download the same torrent and the program will re-check the files.
Usually it will find the missing pieces. If you haven't done that already.

What if you select such torrent, and change the location to put it back to where the file is stored (even if it means to select the same place). A workaround helping in the past with another client

Fixed by #17064 and libtorrent 2.0.7
A restart will fix the issue when the drive is reconnected.
