More granular location tracking and serial numbers / status

I'm using Partkeepr to keep track of my personal technology. There are two things that would be very helpful if they don't already exist.

If I have 4 of something, like a WIFI switch, and two are brand new and two are used, and one needs repair, it seems I have no way to designate separate locations for each individual item of a sku. If we were able to track serial numbers per qty of each inventoried item, and then have a status for each serial number and a potential location for each serial number, then I could conceivably mark a specific piece as "deployed" - "in kitchen"...or "available" "in box A", or "needs repair" in box "C"...etc.

Anyone ever considered this prior to now?
