this is an adhoc dump area that i will put questions and their answers that i keep seeing in our SOGS for lokinet that will act as a staging area for a proper FAQ.
Note: this is NOT an FAQ.
lokinet uses DNS to automap .loki addresses to a local user defined ip range, the application resolves this .loki address
DNS settings not set by lokinet right. we try to set them the best that we can but things are still a bit buggy, especially on some linuxes.
No, systemd is not required. if you compile without libsystemd you are expected to roll your own system layer if it's not already provided to you by someone else.
parts of systemd does make life easier as it lets us set dns settings via systemd-resolved's dbus calls, but ideally i dont want to think about init scripts at all. if you like thinking about initscripts we'd love to get maintainers for each of those so that we dont have to think about initscripts anymore. i focus on lokinet's development, not linux distro packaging because that's a full time job and it's not my job.
