Haven?

Hi,

Would you consider adding Haven to social networks? It isn't really a network (independent from the internet that is)--it's an open-source self-hostable private blog with RSS and a built-in feedreader. You can use it instead of Facebook, etc but with RSS as the exchange protocol it's very open for interoperability.

I don't really understand how it works. It doesn't sound very different from a private website with rss feed. Maybe you have a lot of friends in IT but I really do not see it happening that my friends all self host their rss feed to share stuff with me. I would certainly like to see that happen but it's far from reality. I guess it's much easier to just share pictures and messages in apps like Signal, so it makes me wonder what exactly is the purpose of this?

From a technical perspective, it is just a private website with RSS feed and feed-reader. But from a social perspective, it is a different way to approach online social networks. If multiple people run their own Havens, they can subscribe to each other with RSS. This provides the functionality of a social networking platform but with the openness of internet standards. It is similar in architecture to Diaspora (which is already listed) but simpler and based on a more open protocol.

Here's my understanding, and please correct me if I'm wrong:

Haven allows you have a website that also has an RSS feed. Therefore, people could use a news aggregator to read through someone's "Haven", but not really use Haven to read an RSS feed. Is that correct?
