Update: Presearch uses reCAPCTHA currently when you create an account, this might raise some concerns but the presearch team has mentioned that this will be either replaced by hCAPTCHA or another alternative that is more privacy-friendly in the near future once more important changes get done like becoming fully open source and decentralized in their to-do list. |

Statements like that always make me sceptical. Unsure why we should really list this @privacyguides/team? |

Hello everyone!
Please look into Presearch, which is a decentralized search engine that is being open sourced too. As part of their roadmap, their vision is to be completely open source (which is being done right now as some parts are already open source) as well as become non-profit organization once the project becomes self-sustainable (which is the last phase in thier roadmap). They are based on Canada, and they are improving in a very fast pace, they are also re-designing their UI currently. Their search engine is also based on blockchain technology and uses it's own cryptocurrency called "PRE" which is not only used to pay users for every search they do, it's used for their advertising system called "keyword staking" and "nodes" which makes it decentralized (more info can be found on their website: www.presearch.io).
There is much more to this project, the dev team (& CEO) are VERY transparent, conducting weekly updates live (on their youtube channel), and it's very community-driven. They have huge ambitions and it's very sustainable, already has over 4 million users (don't remember the exact numbers, it's pretty high).

I know this can't be put in the main list, but should atleast be added under the page as worth mentioning. Because it's still not "fully" open source, or decentralized as everything is being worked on, and people might not consider it until then seriously (though it will be fully decentralized at the end of this year for sure, following main-net launch), i think it's still worth to be mentioned. Community packages on github is also being opening slowly so users could contribute, similar to what DuckDuckGo did with duckduckhack.com
