Hi Everyone 👋🏽, I'm Namrata Narayan (she/her). I lead Communications, Marketing & Public Relations at GSF and, through my company, help social purpose organizations and leaders improve their communications and public engagement efforts to scale their community, authority, and impact! 🌱 I advocate for relational design and development to advance sustainability, equity and inclusion. I am amazed at the wealth of knowledge GSF shares on how to make software more energy efficient and less dependent on fossil fuel energy and the fact we can already do SO MUCH to keep our climate clean and carbon-free and reduce the negative climate calamities on vulnerable populations and frontier communities is astounding! I am committed to getting more folks on the green software wagon because software can help save our planet. Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn. Please mention this forum in your invitation or message! 💚 |

Hi Everyone I had some awareness of the impact that software makes on the climate change before I joined GSF. Then I thought that we're decades away from any comprehensive decisions in this area. I'm so happy I was wrong! To be a part of the project with such an important mission brings me joy and fills with optimism. |

Hi everyone, I'm Jo Lindsay Walton, a Research Fellow at the Sussex Humanities Lab - most of my climate-related work is to do with communication and education, but I'm also involved in green software via the Digital Humanities Climate Coalition Toolkit: https://sas-dhrh.github.io/dhcc-toolkit/ The DHCC is a Community Interest Group of the UK-IE Digital Humanities Association, and the toolkit is a free and open source resource that always welcomes new contributors. If you have tools or resources you think should be in there, please feel free to propose them. Here's me on LinkedIn: Cheers, |

Hi, I‘m Aydin Mir Mohammadi (he/him) from Germany, software developer, entrepreneur and managing director of bluehands. I’m a community enthusiast and run the Green Software Development Karlsruhe User Group with monthly meetups. As a developer I believe that we have the responsibility to create climate friendly application. Currently we have to smuggle green software development into our daily business - we need free tooling and data. To support this approach, I started some open-source tooling around Carbon Aware SDK and provide free forecast data for Europe with academic help. I put it all together in carbon-aware-computing.com. In Karlsruhe we have a huge IT and software entrepreneurship community organized in CyberForum. We started the Sustainability and Impact chapter. Karlsruhe is a hidden champion in the IT business (4.500 IT-Companies, 50% of business tax is from IT) and I’m trying to spread the idea that the sustainability transformation of IT-Companies starts with Green Software Development. I think the GSF is a great opportunity for networking and getting support for the local activities. Please feel free to contact me on LinkedIn |

Hi all 👋 I'm Adam Jackson [he/him]. I am the PM for Communities at the Green Software Foundation. I support our Community Working Group and several projects including meetups & speakers. I am quite new to the GSF, prior to this I was at Microsoft for over 10 years leading Developer Relations initiatives in the UK. I'm really excited about the role of community in reaching developers and sharing the importance of Green Software. These communities not only help us spread the word about the principles of Green Software, they are an important space for sharing of ideas, success stories, and a place for individuals to grow. A bit about me - I am based in the UK, about thirty miles from London. I enjoy tech, food & travel (trying to be more eco-conscious with the latter!). Please do connect with me on LinkedIn. If you have any community questions at all, just @ me on here or DM me on LinkedIn. |

Hello everyone! It's Dawn Geatches (she/her) here. I'm working as the Knowledge Transfer Manager for Mathematical Sciences for the Innovate UK Knowledge Transfer Network. Until September 2022 I worked as a computational scientist using compute-intensive software to explore the properties of materials. For many years I struggled with the thought that the simulations I ran weren't worth the compute energy, then I did a small project to explore if, in my seemingly passive position as a user of software (with no input into software development, nor HPC procurement and scheduling, nor data centre management) I could influence the amount of energy used to run the simulations. The difference I found between setting-up a simulation very carefully and setting one up in a lackadaisical way, i.e., in a 'Friday afternoon' - just-put-it-together-and-let-it-run-over-the-weekend kind of way, was startling. The slapdash set-up used over 40 times the energy of t'other. This mini-project demonstrated to me that all of us using digital technology have a role to play in reducing its negative impacts on our environment. In my current role I am building networks of communities around environmentally sustainable computing, and am very keen to raise the awareness among businesses of AI's impact on our environment. After raising awareness I want to help them gain the tools they need to reduce their impact. I'm happy to be here and connect via this forum and through https://www.linkedin.com/in/dlg483/ |

Hi all, I'm Daniel Vaughan [he/him] in London & Cambridge, UK. My background is main in software development and consultancy. I still enjoy writing code and got into Green Software after seeing just how easy it is to use huge amounts of resources and so carbon especially on cloud. I currently work on cloud strategy and architecture at Mastercard especially around how to take Real Time Payments systems and the teams that build them to cloud. I am also one of the leads of the Sustainability Special Interest Group in our Engineering Guild and work in the education workstream. I am keen to collaborate with anyone else who is looking to build software sustainability awareness and capabilities in a large organization. Generally my technical interests are Google Cloud (as a reference), Cloud Native Development and Green Software and the more interaction between the three the better. Hi! My name is Adam Wirth (he/him) (https://www.linkedin.com/in/adamwirth). I am a software developer in Philadelphia, PA, USA. I am currently trying to learn more about carbon tracking for software emissions, to see how I can apply that to the next role I'm in (currently looking for work). I also want to learn at a high-level about the different ways energy is being thought about. I'm reading about carbon capture. Yesterday I was reading through my ACM + IEEE publications. They have a lot of articles this year relating computers to climate. The article I read yesterday (here: https://spectrum.ieee.org/space-based-solar-power-2667878868) was kind of crazy, doesn't seem viable, but I didn't even know the field existed, so it's all very exciting for me currently. Happy to chat with people and learn more if anyone wants to chat, hit me up :) |

Hi everyone, I am Claudio. A platform engineer doing some exploratory digging into how this framework works and checking if it's possible to generate a configuration file automatically by connecting with an azure project and retrieve resources. This is a group effort in the company I am currently working. Is there a way to connect with others of the community and exchange ideas/ask for clarifications?
