We had previously discussed implementing a "killswitch" for plugins, however it implementing would be difficult.

An alternative might be to extend the plugin manager while it's doing its update check to listen for any potential "plugin notices" that come from either the plugin developer or admins.

This could be used as a way to tell/notify users that a plugin is currently broken or incompatible with the current version of TM.

Some kind of "announcements" section could be nice, although I think that would have to be admin only. I think if plugin developers could make announcements themselves, it might get abused.
