Either it's an announcement (then you should KNOW what to say/announce BEFORE you post it) or your are writing a blog, leaving a comment or something less severe. In the latter case it does make sense to have an EDIT feature, but not for an announcement.

When an announcement is published you may send an email. If this would be implemented you either receive two emails or no updated announcement, since you can't undo an email. Both would be unwanted.

With the implementation of scheduled announcements you could however add an edit option for future announcements since no emails and notifications are send, this would partially close this issue.

You are right, but I don't send E-Mails for Announcements.
A potential fix would be to not send the entire Anncouncement via E-Mail, but rather only a link to the Announcement. That way we can easily edit out typos and other things if needed without sending any more E-Mails.

+1
I also do not send out emails for most announcements. Would be great to have it edited without DB access. At least for typos to be fixed.
