For the instruction in the Micro:bit part, I think we can add more information as follow:

MakeCode Micro:bit setting

After you installed the following code in your Micro:bit, you will start the Bluetooth magnetometer service and you can set up your compass inside Micro:bit by following the instruction on your LED screen
