What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open ROM
2. Click save state to file
3. Now click load state from file

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
My save file is expected but I can't see anything in snapshots dir.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I am using snes9x-gtk rev 79, on Ubuntu 8.10 32bit.

Please provide any additional information below.

I have attached screenshots for you to see.

Do the permissions on the snapshot directory allow for writing the file?

Yes they do now... I tested again but there was no difference.

I'm confirming this problem, on Debian Squeeze snes9x-1.52-gtk-79-i386.tar.bz2
version. When run in console it says nothing.

Are you getting a message inside the game screen that says the file has been
written?

Whoops, sorry--I missed that. So do the slotted save states still work for both
of you?

The slotted save states also fail to work for me. However I can save some games
inside
the game. (using the save system of that game) That is the only way I can save.

Can you try saving the file to a previously existing directory, like your home
directory or the Desktop? I'm nearly sure this is a permissions issue caused by
Issue
35.

Saved to both Home folder and Desktop... neither one worked. I thought maybe
its just
an issue with Ubuntu 8.10 but I also tested with Ubuntu 9.10 and it does not
work.

Can you confirm it works with a distro?

Obviously it works for me, otherwise I could probably fix it easily. Are you
using the
PPA?

Could you check out and build trunk? (see Source tab)

I've added some error messages that will output to the console when things go
wrong.
This should help identify the problem.

Excellent news! Save state works in the version I downloaded and compiled!

I guess this problem can be counted as solved. Maybe you should make a new
release so
people won't report this again.

Confirmed problem - snes9x-1.52-gtk-79-i386.tar.bz2 on Linux Mint Helena.
If this is resolved in the trunk, then I'd be happy to see a new build released.

How do I build the source?

Aha, figured out building process myself. That wasn't easy one. Mentioning
requirements for autoconf and intltool would've been helpful.

Confirmed here with version 79 on Ubuntu 10.04. Trunk (checked out 317)
doesn't have the problem.

I apologize for the bump, but I have this issue and don't know how to compile
snes9x-gtk, since I have Ubuntu on a Chrome CR48. Could someone upload an
already compiled version?
