Gentoo, more than most distros, likes to handle building Rust and Go programs through the native package manager. Building an IDE and DevPod through the same system will help Gentoo users avoid weird incompatibilities that can arise trying to get Portage-managed applications talking to third party binaries. The net effect for you the maintainers will be to eliminate "this appimage doesn't work on Gentoo" and similar issues/complaints.

EDIT: Flatpaks would also solve this for me. #1375
