epub file won't open, but shows the index properly [incl. sample file]

Bug description

Whenever I try to open up an epub file, xreader only shows the index on the left, but not the content on the right. Terminal outputs an infinite cycle of framebuffer error. My system's info.

Sample file (non-english) : ZaneGrey-EletreHalalra.tar.gz

Steps to reproduce

Open the epub file, and see there is no content rendered, except for the index on the left pane

Expected behavior

Content should be visible to read.

Additional information

Using Foliate as an alternative epub till this gets fixed.
