Microservice persistence showcase

This is a small microservice application that is used to showcase how Apache Kafka can be used to synchronize two services when one of them stores data that is also used by the other one.

In order to run it, you have to run Kafka (along with Zookeeper), then run the two microservices (forum and user) and then insert or update users in the second one. This will cause the forum service to insert and update their own representation of the users as well.

First, provision Apache Kafka. You should use the default port settings.

Next, run forum microservice:

cd forum
mvn wildfly-swarm:run -Dswarm.http.port=8081

After that run the user microservice:

cd user
mvn clean wildfly-swarm:run -Dswarm.http.port=8082

Insert some test users in the user microservice:

curl http://localhost:8082/user/reset

They should be replicated automatically to the forum microservice. You can access both representations of the inserted users by requesting:

curl http://localhost:8081/forum/user
curl http://localhost:8082/user
