Known issues & planned features

ICARUS Terminal is currently in a pre-release early access phase and has many known issues.

These are just some of the known issues and features under consideration that may not have been logged in the tracker yet.

Known issues

Some of known issues that may not be in the issue tracker yet:

• Engineering Blueprint names do not match the names show in game
• Experimental Engineering effects are not displayed
• Time in header could be updated more efficiently (maybe using ref instead of hook in away that avoid a render call)
• Windows should restore to their original position on screen after exiting full screen mode
• Windows should go full screen on the monitor they are triggered on (not always on the main window)
• When jumping between systems with Nav Route open, going back to other views in the Navigation Panel will display the last system the player had open (instead of the current system)
• Positions of Stations and Megaships may be incorrect in EDSM and consequently in ICARUS Terminal. Options to fully resolve this are limited by the game data available (and there are too many systems to resolve errors manually) but some improvements are under consideration

Features under consideration

Some of features being considered that are not being tracked yet:

• Show body types on System Map by class (similar to FSS view)
• Show Bodies Scanned / Not Scanned on System Map
• Show Route summary and next jump on systems on route in the System Map and System List views when in a system that is on a plotted route
• Improve blend of local map data with EDSM data in Navigation panel
• Add labels-on-hover to secondary navigation buttons (e.g. as seen in game)
• Improve system info is displayed on System Map and System List views
• Add mechanism to save user progress / preferences app wide (currently settings can only be saved per-device, e.g. theme settings, mute notifications, etc).
• Add "Home" panel with Cmdr status (funds, progress, etc), events, news and other content (e.g. in-game missions, events from public calendar, Fleet Carrier Owners Club shuttles to/from Colonia, etc)
• Compile a list of interesting locations to visit and display nearby locations in an Exploration View in Navigation (e.g. Mega ships, abandoned bases, ruins, crashed ships, rare phenomenon in system, etc). Tracking which locations were visited would give players a way to discover content already in the game they have not experienced. Could take player submissions for locations.
• Exploration View to list detailed information about valuable planets to visit in a system, details of bodies with biological life and/or volcanic activity, etc.
• Explore player created and proc-gen narrative missions, using location and event tracking logic to string together multiple arc missions, potentially involving in-game missions.
• System to help players navigate to a specific location on a body (i.e. indicate distance to and what heading to take to get to a specific set of co-ordinates). Some missions give LAT/LONG positions on bodies to investigate, but navigating to them is quite awkward to do in game and this would make that much easier. Likewise, it would make it easier for players to share specific locations and/or bookmarks. It would be nice to display these in 3D but having this functionality in the Ship Instrumentation might be a good start.
• Display information such as wanted status, environment details (hot/cold/gravity/etc), etc., possibly location and/or credits in window title.
• Display ship blueprint and map of hard point and utility mount locations on Ship Panel.
• Add SRV instrumentation / summary (maybe under SRV?) and option to track location in 3D in Ship and SRV views (though possibly functionality may overlap with navigation).
• Add option to set translucency level for terminal windows (e.g. for pinned windows in VR, ultrawide displays).
• Improve notifications settings (expanded preferences, ability to toggle notifications by type).
• Make toggle controls in Ship Instrumentation interactive. This has been developed and tested internally; I am able to read the keybind settings from Elite Dangerous and trigger the keybinds in game to successfully to do things like control ship lights, landing gear, etc. However there is some complexity to making this a feature that will work on all systems and for all keyboard layouts so I've paused the implementation of this feature for now. Ultimately I would like to revisit this and to expand the list of interactions (e.g. add fighter and wing commands, etc).
• Find a way to show all factions present in a system (and maybe other system specific information)
