ColdSync comes with a nice utility to let your Palm OS device connect
to your network via a PPP connection with your host pc.
It will probably work only under Linux due to the libusb-1.0
requirement and the pty option of pppd.
COMPILING
It's not compiled by default and you'll need libusb-1.0 .
cd coldsync-ppp
gcc -I../include -lusb-1.0 -o coldsync-ppp coldsync-ppp.c
USAGE
pppd local passive noauth nodetach 10.0.0.1:10.0.0.2 pty coldsync-ppp-usb
Where 10.0.0.2 will be the address of your Palm OS device and
10.0.0.1 will be assigned to your host PC. Don't use addresses
that already exist on your LAN or you'll get in trouble.
You can add the debug option to pppd to see all the juicy bits of
the PPP handshake.
To test your connection you can simply ping 10.0.0.2
