Seems like the package was removed from CRAN,

Package ‘bettermc’ was removed from the CRAN repository.

Formerly available versions can be obtained from the [archive](https://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/Archive/bettermc).

Archived on 2023-04-27 as issues were not corrected in time.

A summary of the most recent check results can be obtained from the [check results archive](https://cran-archive.r-project.org/web/checks/2023/2023-04-27_check_results_bettermc.html).

Please use the canonical form https://cran.r-project.org/package=bettermc to link to this page.

Hey @akersting,
Can we help in any way with solving this issue?

Yes, I might try to bring this back to CRAN if there is sufficient interest. However, I am a bit reluctant because I never got an explanation from CRAN why it was removed in the first place despite sending multiple mails to the CRAN maintainers.

To be more precise, there was a minor bug in a test case in v1.2.1. I hence submitted a new version, which was never published before the package got archived.
