recommended kernel on ticket sparks other ideas: #6 (comment)

{mildsvm} is an interesting package to look more into. I have perused {e1701} & {liquidSVM} but think they do not have anything not already handled in {parsnip} or {kernlab}. Which brings up another items, {kernlab} has some other engines besides ksvm that could be bound to {maize}. I was thinking some proof-of-concepts on the following.

in {kernlab}:

  • lssvm
  • rvm
  • kqr
  • kknn

in {mildsvm}, test compatibility with some of the engines and methods:

  • omisvm?
  • misvm?
  • others?

@Freestyleyang & @simonpcouch -

I saw this issue in {parsnip}: tidymodels/parsnip#1008

lssvm may come to live in {maize}! I've been working on kernel bindings the last few months but engines and recipe steps will come next.

That's awesome! Feel free to holler if you run into any challenges in the tidymodels integration.
