Glass Bottle Cutter #158
Comments
How do we make these safe so that the cut side isn't sharp? Do we need to somehow sand down the edges? Edit: just saw the cutting and sanding machine link 👌🏻 |
@iteles indeed, sanding the cut/sharp edge is essential. 👌 |
Which wall are you considering this for? 😊 |
Initially, just a small one, but if it goes well, and we have access to essentially unlimited glass bottles - 20 weddings x 100 bottles = 2k bottles 🤯 |
DIY Automated Glass Bottle Cutter: looks almost too good to be true … 💭 |
The more industrial approach: |
This is a dedicated ceramic (and glass) cutting saw with water (which traps the fine dust) as described in the previous video: If it speeds up the cutting process and saves a few hours I’m on board! 💭 |
This is a highly rated Diamond Glass Blade for the circular saw above or angle grinder: Sadly, not available in EU, only UK ... Could axsk my Sister to bring in July as not very heavy/bulky. 💭 |

Confirmed all bottles from the weekend's wedding were kept for us so they'll need to be picked up asap, preferably by Thursday afternoon, definitely before Friday when they're setting up the next one. |
Hmm ... did they say how many bottles it is? (Should I be taking the Van? 🚚) |
@iteles could we axsk @LuchoTurtle to collect the bottles on Thursday on his way from Porto? 💭 |
They were Irish. I would suspect the van is a good call. My aunt didn't know because she wasn't there at the end of the night. |
Sounds like a plan to ask @LuchoTurtle, he'll be in Sofia's car so should have some room 😆 |
Thanks @LuchoTurtle for bringing the bottles! ❤️ The machines are all here sitting in the workshop waiting to be un-boxed ... 📦 |
We have access to an untapped resource: unlimited glass (wine) bottles. 🍷
All we have to do is collect them from the venue where they get consumed. We'd be saving them the trip to the recycling centre.
So I'm considering building a wall featuring glass bottles. 💭
But to make them useful as habitat for birds & insects, we need to cut them open at the base.
So ... we need a glass bottle cutter. ✂️
