Currently Swatches declares a version dependency on Rails "< 4.2.0". This is (a) insecure, because Rails 4.1.x is EOL, and (b) not very useful. If you want to use Swatches you may want to investigate why this version is pinned and either loosen the pin or fix what requires the older version (and then loosen the pin).
