can I run the bot on Windows without the need for Docker Desktop?

Hello,
can I run the bot on windows without the need for Docker Desktop?
I saw there are -win64-x86_64.tar.gz archives in the release list.
I tried running K-trading-bot.exe and the bot runs but I don't know how to find and edit the config file to change API keys and exchange info.
If I want to run more than one bot how do I configure the different port numbers? Do I need to set up different ip address too?

errr yes you can run executable files natively on windows, and also wrap them with a sh script as a config file (like this bot usage suggest).

see --help for a full list of arguments; and grab the template of the sh config file from etc/K.sh.dist (if you didnt know this you may want to read the readme at configuration-after-manual-installation)

btw --port changes the port number used by the web server and --interface changes the outgoing ip used by the api client

if you execute the executable file without wrapping it with the config file that calls automatically the mandatory arguments, you will need to make use of the arguments manually yourself while calling your executable (cos the arguments defined in the config file about api credentials are mandatory and cannot be avoided, otherwise you will see a nice red error naming the missing argument)

all are self explanatory less than --title that is just a name (a word without functionality that defines how humans call something, in this case a bot instance; the suggested value is equal to the filename without extension of the current config file; and is visible in the logs and in the webserver page inside the <title> element)

virtualbox/ubuntu is way cleaner than windows/cygwin :)

The problem is that I never used ubuntu and also that the mini PC I recently bought to run a bot (not this one at first) 24/24 wasn't supposed to run a virtual machine like docker, it only has a celeron N4000 and 4 GB ram so I was really hoping the bot could have run on windows 10.

🐨 im sorry i would like to shutup but need to say that emulation is not required, the exe file has winy bytecodes and runs natively on winy; just is missing the filesystem paths.

but but you do good to not continue with cygwin method if you dont feel like getting your hands dirty solving issues

out of the box, certainly the bot does not run on winy yet

I tried setting up cygwin but I have no idea how to do it. I have never done something like this and I don't want to continue pestering you for a tutorial. I have always used windows and know a bit of ms-dos but this goes way beyond my past experiences.

🐨 the bot uses like 30Mb of ram (0.03Gb) and very little disk space, if you have free time consider a virtuabox with ubuntu (see https://brb.nci.nih.gov/seqtools/installUbuntu.html) with 1024Mb of ram assigned should be more than far enough to run and even compile the bot (i would assign 512mb of ram first just for testing)

🐨 well i just decided on next commits ima try to make the app more friendly for winy; i feel a bit bad to make you loose time with cygwin xD

@ctubio You don't need to feel bad at all! I'm the one feeling bad because I have zero developing/unix experience and some of your answer didn't make any sense to me, because what is everyday talk for you guys, for me it's something new I've never heard of before.
