Hi, I've just found that composer/installer doesn't support wordpress-core type. Having this type really helps to install Wordpress in a separate directory where you want.
I really can't understand why all issues were closed with a request for implementation. But it would make the installation quite convenient.
WordPress has not been using Composer approach for 20 years and will not use it in the nearest future. What I suggest - help developers install Wordpress as wordpress-core package in a custom directory.
In that case, developers don't need to use unofficial installers for it, which works really badly. It can be more standardized. Ultimately we did it for wordpress-plugin and wordpress-theme.
Please, don't close this issue, let's give the a chance community to put their thoughts also.
