Purchase assets with an extended license via API #4
Comments
Hi Andreas,
For questions not related to the SDKs, please email my distribution list, [email protected]. I can't promise a quick resolution, but it is a better audience.
To your question, yes, you can purchase extended licenses via the API if you purchase a credit pack. Credit packs are still relatively new, but are designed for any purchase outside of a regular subscription. They can be purchased here <https://stock.adobe.com/plans#get-credits> [1], and will be added to your normal subscription as a new type of credit. Keep in mind that you should still use a subscription for standard (non-extended) image licenses because it is much cheaper, but credit packs are also good for different asset types like videos and 3D.
I am interested in your use case. Are you developing an application for your personal use, or are you part of a team account? Please understand that if you work for a large company or have a complex use case, then an Enterprise plan would be more appropriate. By default, Enterprise accounts give extended licenses for each image, and they allow you to fully automate the workflow using a service account. But again, this would make sense if you were purchasing in bulk or were part of a large group.
If you run into issues with this workflow, please let me know.

Thanks,
Christopher

Subject: [adobe/stock-api-docs] Purchase assets with an extended license via API (#4)
Hi everyone,
I'm currently working with the Adobe Stock API and was wondering if it is possible to purchase / license assets with an extended license via the API.
The documentation states for the response of a request on Member/Profile:
In both cases, if purchase_options.requires_checkout is true but licensing is not possible, then you will need to take actions on your account to add more credits. This combination of values means that you cannot license at this time via the API, but may be able to if you correct the issue.
So as far as I can see that basically means that only "regular" licenses which can be purchased with credits can be obtained via the API, right?
I thought purchasing extended licenses might be possible since my adobe account has my credit card information.
Thanks for your help.
Andreas
