There are actually two issues here:

  1. When a laser is facing north or south, the laser must hit the flat side of the prism. When traveling east or west, this is reversed.

  2. When traveling north or south, the three colored lasers pull to the left. The red one is almost straight, with the other two aiming significantly leftward. If you flipped the design 180 degrees, it would look the same. When traveling east or west, it will pull to the south. It's spin symetrical when facing north or south, but bilaterally symetrical when traveling east or west.

A laser setup should ideally functional exactly the same when turned 90 degrees.
