Since at that point it's a "give up the whole run" button

Which of the following two cases are you thinking? Or both?

  1. Before the round has ended.
    • One could use forward and forward-fast. But a new player would not see the change.
    • One could use the eye icon?
  2. After the round has ended (and all non-guessed words are revealed).

Also there are the following combination of three icons that could be used for both (1) and (2) in some ways

You can find more icons here

I am referring to case (1).

I think before the round is won, the icon needs to signal "death/abandon/give up" so I am clearly saying "Yes, I lost. What was the word?" Maybe even a confirmation box "Are you sure you want to give up? You will end the game on round X with Y points."

After a six-letter word is found, the icon doesn't need to be so scary.

A skull and bones icon may be a bit too much, but what about explosion?

Having a pop-up is also related to #42 .
