Traffic Disruption During HBN DPUService Configuration Changes

Description

When updating the HBN DPUService configuration, the associated service pods are recreated across the entire DPU cluster. This recreation process causes a temporary traffic interruption until the pods are fully initialized and operational.

Impact

• Traffic flow is disrupted during the pod recreation process, leading to a temporary service outage.
• The issue affects all nodes in the DPU cluster simultaneously, compounding the impact on the network.

Expected Behavior

Configuration changes to the HBN DPUService should ideally be applied seamlessly without requiring pod restarts or causing service interruptions.

Resolution

This issue is under investigation.

Note: There is currently no workaround for this issue.
