The Oracle JDK License has changed for releases starting April 16, 2019.
The Oracle Java (JDK) 8 Installer PPA is now discontinued, and the package oracle-java8-installer is missing.

I was able to install openjdk 8 on a vanilla ubuntu vm with sudo apt-get install openjdk-8-jre.

I got this working on my Linux installation. The instructions just need to be updated a little bit.
