many instances are down

some of the first dozen instances on the github page are down. I think it would be nice to set some kind of down detector so that people don't need to open many different instances to find a working one

not only that, but the official instance has some graphical issues. compare it to, for example, https://wikiless.tiekoetter.com. I'll list the instances that, at the time of writing, are working correctly. I'll also list those that don't have Light mode as default - this is relevant because the dark mode implementation is not great, and shouldn't be the default. Lastly, I'll list the ones that aren't working at all (and why).

That's literally the old commits, and it is unmaintained/broken. You can use it if you wish. Many people don't want to use broken instances that has missing pages, the ones listed are maintained well and working.
