Minimal reproducible example

Sometimes a post has missing post comments, but shows the child comments as a post comment.

Specifically looking at ExLisper’s post comment, but only HerbalGamer’s comment appears (as a post comment). Screenshot attached from Memmy.

Expected Behavior

The parent comment should show and the child comments should be properly nested.

As someone posted in the community, the problem exists when the comments are sorted by Top. I can confirm this, if I sort by Top, some parents disappear, sorting by New, Old and Hot brings them back.

Ah, so it seems that the top will pick the TOP rated comment from all comments and if it’s a child, it will just forget about the parents and siblings of that comment.

Hopefully this can be fixed, since top is the best sort for day old threads.
