Catalog lists datasets using recent view (popularity) by default. The listing order should be the same as Recent View count displayed on each popular datasets. In some rare cases, it is out of order.
Dataset is listed using SOLR data. View Count is fetched from database. It could be out of sync until the next tracking update job is finished. It is less a problem in a site that is frequently visited, such as prod.
The easy fix should be store view count into SOLR data, so we are comparing apple to apple. I am not entirely sure why CKAN took it out of solr data.
