The importance of research software in the scientific
knowledge process is increasing, yet the required
corresponding competencies are often neglected.
Institutions often lack a clear concept regarding the
development and use of research software, as well as the
development of the corresponding competencies. The
symposium will bring together representatives from the
Research Software Engineering Community, libraries,
research data management facilities, computing centers,
Open Science Offices, and other relevant stakeholders to
develop recommendations for institutions. Topics covered
may include establishing research software in
institutions, awareness building, integration of research
software into curricula, best practice examples, research
software policies, as well as national and international
collaborations. The workshop aims to identify solutions on
how stakeholders and institutions can be empowered to use
and develop research software more effectively. The
developed recommendations will be published in open access
and fed back into the relevant communities.
