MacBook (please complete the following information):

  • MacBook Model (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201608): MacBookPro15,2
  • macOS Version (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201260): 15.1
  • Charger Model (Apple, Third Party, Wattage,...): Apple 61W
  • Charging Cable (MagSafe 2, MagSafe 3, USB-C, Apple, Third Party,...): Apple USB C
  • AlDente Pro or AlDente Free: AlDente Free
  • AlDente Version: 1.28.6
  • List or add screenshots of all enabled/disabled settings in AlDente: Limit set at 60%
  • Please share a debug file the next time this happens so that we can assess this issue better. You can find a guide on How to generate and share a debug file on our blog(https://apphousekitchen.com/how-to-generate-and-share-a-debug-file/).
  • External Monitor connected? Issue occurs regardless of whether or not an external monitor is connected
  • MacBook used in Clamshell Mode (with the lid closed)? No

Describe the bug
AlDente respects charge limits in MacOS, however it does not prevent charging to 100% when running Windows 10 installed through Bootcamp with the latest Apple drivers.

I’d consider upgrading to AlDente Pro, but I’d need the app to work across both operating systems.

Thanks for your help with this.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Set AlDente to use a charge limit < 100% (eg 50% or 60%)
  2. Discharge the battery to the limit in Mac OS either by unplugging from mains power or by using AlDente's discharge feature
  3. AlDente works correctly and limits charging to the specified battery level when the machine is reconnected to mains power
  4. Set the boot disk to the Bootcamp partition in MacOS settings (or use the UEFI boot manager during reboot)
  5. Reboot into Windows 10 22H2 build 19045.5011 while connected to mains power (problem also occurs if the machine is rebooted on battery and connected to mains after boot-up and Windows login)
  6. Battery charges in Windows to 100%

Expected Behavior
Charging in Windows should be limited to a value within +/- 10% of the value set in AlDente

Hi @lwg101,

Thank you for being so interested in AlDente.
The persistent charge limit during Bootcamp is only available for AlDente Pro. You can get AlDente Pro on our website. Furthermore, you can try AlDente Pro for free for 7 days through SetApp.

Best,
Matthias
