Hi,
is it possible to know what is the state-of-the-art for Exchange API?
Are they already implemented Add-ons server side? Is there a roadmap/timeframe you can share?
Thank you very much,

Davide

Hi Davide,

These APIs for HTML extensions has been available since October. Are you seeing issues?

When did Add-ons officially announce it? I've completely missed it in the PR place.
Also, a little bit of a walkthrough would be greatly appreciated; I've launched the Sample Extension but couldn't be able to understand how to use it - keeps hanging at the "oh no!" phase and Acquire Extension Online button goes nowhere (i.e. the Add-ons home).
Thanks!

Hi @undavide & @lesavage ;)
I just tried the CEP_HTML_Test_Extension on tab "AgoraLib":

And you can see the red phrase "The following are for testing purposes until Exchange Plugin has finished their implementation"
So in fact I don't which "Exchange Plugin" is mentionned here (there is also another extension in the samples called ExchangeExample but not up-to-date apparently).

Can we use this AgoraLib / Exchange API now? Do you know where I can find more documentation?

I don't know the latest status. @dinghui0712 do you have any further information?

Nice to find you back @lesavage :-) As far as I get it – based on tests I've done in the past months while writing my HTML Panels development course (shameless plug!), things are as follows.
That panel for some reason doesn't work properly, yet if you follow the ExchangeExample code you can manage to make it "sort of working". Problem is that, apparently, the product that you should get from Adobe Add-ons (I assume for free) in order to test the validation process, doesn't exist on Add-ons.
So you're back at square one.

Exchange plugin is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application. It is used to download/install extensions/add-ons in background. It had been released. And https://github.com/Adobe-CEP/CEP-Resources/blob/master/CEP_6.x/AgoraLib.js can also be used.

Maybe the tab "AgoraLib" of CEP_HTML_Test_Extension is not up-to-date.

Thank you all for the help ;)

@arthurwei1975 I just checked the AgoraLib version for CEP_HTML_Test_Extension & it's in fact up to date (v6.1.0) -> https://github.com/Adobe-CEP/Samples/blob/master/CEP_HTML_Test_Extension/js/AgoraLib.js

So I retried with CEP_HTML_Test_Extension & console opened without success … I had a request timeout, so the Adobe Creative Cloud (ACC) was opened by the AgoraLib successfully but it looks like there's no response :/

Environment
Code used: https://github.com/Adobe-CEP/Samples/blob/master/CEP_HTML_Test_Extension
Mac: 10.11.2
ACC: Latest 3.6.0.248
Illustrator: 19.2.1
AgoraLib.js: 6.1.0
Vulcan.js: 6.1.0

Do I need to publish an extension first (in beta or public) before trying it? For me I was hoping a response even if the product wasn't published.
As @undavide it will be really helpful to have the demo extension published for trying this process more easily!

Hi @Jolg42 - for questions about Add-ons/Adobe Exchange you'll probably get better answers here: https://forums.adobe.com/community/creative_cloud/add-ons

However there is the concept of "private products" which allows you to test things without them being available publicly: https://www.adobeexchange.com/resources/6#faq8

Thank you @fgregor I just posted it here: https://forums.adobe.com/message/8737642
I already tried the private product mode, indeed it's good for testing but not for going live.

@fgregor No response on the forum 🤔 @arthurwei1975 Do you have any info?
It looks like nobody is using it as of today.
